This gallery depicts the Naming Ceremony of the Stromness RNLI Lifeboat Violet, Dorothy and Kathleen held on the 19th June 1999. The new lifeboat was named by Mrs Kirkpatrick, the widow of Coxswain, Dan Kirkpatrick who perished with the rest of his crew when the Longhope lifeboat T.G.B. was lost in a terrible storm on 17th March 1969 while on service to the Liberian vessel MV Irene.
